Freshmen year can be challenging, don’t get frustrated, your boosters are here to help!  Here are some commonly asked questions…

How do I sign up for football?  – From the West Ranch High School Home Page click on Summer Athletics.  A complete list of all summer athletic camps are posted, along with registration instructions.  Summer camp is not required but is strongly recommended.

How will my player get into football as an achademic class?  -  All football players must register for Freshmen football as their PE class.  This will get them on the freshmen roster.  In August when the freshmen register for school, they will NOT need to purchase PE attire.  They will however need to purchase a school issued lock for their PE locker.  The spirit wear purchased in the spirit pack will be their PE attire.  (See Forms and Information page for spirit pack info)

When will I know if my player has made the team?  – The football program at West Ranch High School cuts players that are academically ineligible or if there is a sever disciplinary issue.  All players “make” the team.  However, high school sports do not have guidelines or rules for playing time.  Playing time is strictly the decision of the head coach, and is strongly weighted by player performance.  Our coaching staff encourages  players to enjoy the “team/family” atmosphere.

Why does it cost so much to play high school football?  -  Although the William S. Hart School district funded the football program for our 1st 3 years in existence, we no longer receive these  funds.  Much of the equipment that was issued 6 years ago and paid for by the district has needed to be replaced.   Remember, football is a  contact sport.   For the safety of each player and per CIF rules, equipment must be re-certified each year and replaced if deemed “unsafe”.   The football program is a non-profit organization, and is run primarily by parent volunteers.   More information is available, just ask, we’d be happy to share it with you!

What if I need to make financial arrangements?- See your level VP if you need to discuss financial obligations.  Extended payment plans are available.   YOUR freshmen VP is Maria Palma at mariajpalma@sbcglobal.net
